"Ashley Tisdale takes over the Spring/Summer 2013 issue of Icon magazine. The 27-year-old actress chatted about her future in films, cooking and things on her own bucket list. On looking to the future: “I’m ready for audiences to see me like this. I’ve acted for so long now, and there’s so much more I want to do. I’m all about pushing myself and taking myself out of my comfort zone. High School Musical was a life-changing experience and I’m so proud to have been a part of this big, positive thing that inspired a lot of people.”

On her family ties: “My parents didn’t really like the whole acting thing at first. Growing up, it really was more of a privilege to go on auditions. It was something that I always wanted, but the deal was that I ha to do well in school, and then I could go audition.”On her bucket list: “There’s plenty of things I still want to accomplish professionally. But I also want to do other things like go shark diving!”Ashley is also pictured with boyfriend Christopher French heading to lunch at Fresh Corn Grill on Thursday afternoon (April 18) in West Hollywood, Calif."

Ashley Tisdale is ready for the world to end. And, if it has to happen, at least she’s in interesting company. The singer/actress will join Nicolas Cage in the dystopian drama “Left Behind.” And while fans are used to her making them chuckle, this project will show her stretching another kind of acting muscle.

"I’m super-excited to be doing a movie called 'Left Behind' with Nicolas Cage. I play his daughter, and it’s a drama, so it’s completely different from this,” she said, comparing it to her current role in the comedy “Scary Movie 5.”The film, which also stars Chad Michael Murray, is about a group of people left behind after the rapture, and she’s looking forward to showing people that she can get serious when the cameras start rolling—even in the direst of circumstances. She added, "I’ve always loved drama and I love comedy, but I think it’s good to switch it up to show your range."No release date has been set for her dramatic turn, though Ashley is currently starring in the comedy “Scary Movie 5” and has confirmed to MTV News that she’s working on new music. And, much like with her work in “Left Behind,” the multi-hyphenate is hoping to surprise people.

"I'm still feeling it out," she said of her new music. "I want to surprise people a little bit, something different from what I've done before. I started actually last year recording, but you know, I'm just still trying to find exactly what I want to do."

Heading out for some afternoon shopping, Ashley Tisdale and Christopher French spent time together in Los Angeles. The "Scary Movie 5" star wore a Rolling Stones T-Shirt, denim vest, short shorts, and tall boots while her rocker beau managed to look tough while carrying her tiny fluffy pup named Maui.

Recently, the 27-year-old star spoke to MTV News about feeling inspired to make music again. Referring to "Spring Breakers" costar Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley said, "I think music, for us, is a big part of us, me and Vanessa. We love it. We obviously came from 'High School Musical,' so we miss it."

When asked if she'll do another album, Ms. Tisdale replied, "It's so funny. I've been asked that question a lot, and I've just always been somebody who needs to be inspired, obviously, to do something. I don't just want to do it just to do it. But I have been missing music, so I think I'm going to be going to the recording studio, like, next week."
